A-League 2019/20 Season Maps: Shots, Goals, Goals Conceded & Crosses

With the 2019/20 Premier League season finished, I’ve gone through the data and created a series of maps to showcase each teams’ shots, goals, goals conceded and crosses over the season.

Here’s some interesting callouts:

• Alessandro Diamanti took the longest shot - a 70m+ shot against Brisbane Roar

• Riley McGree managed to score the only goal from a corner against Newcastle Jets

  • Other shots from corners came from Alessandro Diamanti and Pirmin Schwegler

• More goals came from the left

  • Left: 190 goals (46%)

  • Right: 158 goals (38%)

• Shots were quite balanced

  • Left: 1860 shots (49%)

  • Right: 1801 shots (47%)

• More crosses came from the right

  • Right: 2882 crosses (55%)

  • Left: 2339 crosses (45%)

• Sydney and Brisbane have the best goal-conceded maps

  • Most goals are conceded from central positions inside the box, suggesting that only high quality chances are being scored against them
